About
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit and division of US Ski & Snowboard, growing cross-country skiing across California, Nevada, and the Sierra Nevada.
Far West Nordic grows and develops the sport of cross country skiing for skiers of all ages and abilities in California and Nevada. Through educational, recreational, and competitive programs, we help people achieve their skiing ambitions, lead healthy lifestyles, and enjoy a lifelong love of the sport.
We serve juniors (under 20), seniors (20–29), and masters (30 and up) across the Far West region — running a full season of races, the Sierra Ski Chase and Masters Challenge series, junior development and Junior National qualifiers, biathlon, and community events. Far West is volunteer-driven and supported by member dues, donations, and the clubs and ski areas of the Sierra Nevada.
Cross-country skiing is a sport for life — accessible to first-time citizens' racers and national-team hopefuls alike. It builds fitness, community, and a lasting connection to the winter landscape of California and Nevada.
