Far West Strava Challenge

How it works

Far West Nordic invites you to take part in virtual "races" at Nordic centers across the region. The courses are defined by Strava segments ("KOMs") and are a low-key way to experience a race. Participation is free — though you must have a pass for any resort where you ski. Segments range from fairly flat one-mile sprints to challenging endurance routes, uphill and downhill segments, and a couple of classic-specific routes — something for every skier, beginner or advanced. There's even a prize for the skier who completes the most segments, so let it inspire you to explore some new ski areas.

Taking part

To be included in the official results, register (free — though we'd love it if you joined Far West Nordic) and have a Strava account, which is how we harvest results. Classic-specific routes are reported through a short form instead. Ski a segment as many times as you like — only your best time counts.

Rules

• It's your responsibility to avoid and respect non-racing skiers.
• Race in skate or classic style — for scoring we assume you skated unless you report otherwise.
• Purchase a daily pass (or have a season pass) at each resort where you ski.
• Race each course as often as you wish — only your fastest time is reported. Visit as many Nordic centers as you have time for, or just ski one. Have fun!
