Auburn Ski Club
A USSA-affiliated club with its own Training Center on Donner Summit — year-round teams, programs, and competitions, plus winter recreational ski facilities and clinics.
Founded in 1965 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Auburn Ski Club Associates oversee the programs offered at the ASC Training Center.
The Auburn Ski Club Training Center is the on-snow base for the Auburn Ski Club Associates programs. Owned and operated by Auburn Ski Club Inc., the Training Center was created to provide a facility for the use and enjoyment of winter sports by families and athletes. With a legacy dating back to 1928, the Auburn Ski Club Inc. created the Training Center with the objective of supporting reduced-cost participation in winter sport training and racing, youth development and Junior training, recreational activities, cross-country skiing, biathlon, and ski jumping.
The center is located adjacent to Boreal Mountain Resort on Donner Summit and offers a large, comfortable day-use lodge and 15km of groomed cross country trails.
Training Center hours
- Open Wednesday through Sunday
- Office hours 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Cross country ski trail hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (weather permitting)
- Closed Monday and Tuesday (unless holiday period)
Programs and teams
Adults. Auburn Ski Club offers a weekly training group for the "master" skier, as well as clinics and activities for the adult skier. The Club's trail system is one of the best deals in town — offering 15km of great skiing for as little as $30 a season (Club membership required).
Youth and Junior. Auburn Ski Club offers one of the premier training opportunities for young athletes in the nation. The Club employs a team of dedicated professional coaches who not only know ski racing, but excel at sharing their passion for being active in the outdoors, adventure, and healthy fun.
- Starting with the Youth Program "Super Sliders" (age 4 & up), children learn to ski as they share the fun of being on snow with parent coaches and staff.
- For the young racer, the "Sonic Race Team" (age 9 & up) develops a young skier's technique and racing experience.
- For the Junior, the "Development" and "Competition" Teams provide top year-round coaching and training as well as race support in a fun, focused setting.
Racing. Many open "Citizens races", school and Collegiate level races are hosted at the Club, as well as ski orienteering, biathlon, and ski jumping.
