The Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski Association's Junior Competition Team — year-round training for motivated juniors in Mammoth, Crowley Lake, and Bishop.

In May of 2009, the Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski Association, in conjunction with Mammoth Mountain Race Department, formed a Junior Competition Team. The goal for the program is to provide year-round training for motivated juniors who aspire to the Junior Olympic level and beyond. The program is headed by Olympian, US National Champion, and long-time Mammoth coach Nancy Fiddler.
The program has three training blocks: Dryland 1 (May–August), Dryland 2 (September–November), and an on-snow block (December–mid April). For the summer program, six athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 of varying levels of experience took part. All athletes are from Mammoth, Crowley Lake, and Bishop.
All junior participants in the program are provided with a training schedule that includes 3–4 group workouts a week. Training activities include rollerskiing, strength training, running, and hiking. In summer the team takes advantage of the great hiking and peak bagging the Eastern Sierra has to offer, doing most overdistance training in the mountains. Interval training takes place in the form of running (track intervals and forest running) and ski walking, with rollerskiing intervals introduced at the end of the summer. Rollerskiing is used for distance, specific strength, speed, and technique training throughout the summer.
